Alysia Ehret
Connection: A good friend of mine who I met through my son’s preschool (thank goodness for this era of meeting likeminded mom friends) recommended Alysia to me. She described Alysia as having a genuine personality, a go-getter, and a twin mom. Whether you’re a mom in the throws or a non-mom looking for motivational health goals, Alysia seems to offer a little something for everyone. Alysia exudes positivity and an overall good energy, which you can see through her instagram and her q&a below.
Name: Alysia Ehret
Location: Jersey City, NJ
Self-Description: Hi, I'm Alysia! First and foremost I'm a mom to twin toddler girls and wife to my husband - all of whom are my whole world :) I'm also a pilates and health coach dedicated to showing women how to FEEL their best through body loving movement and mindset work. I spent years at war with my body and finally found that being on the same team is where the magic happens. My mission is to spread this message with as many women as possible in the most accessible way, which is why I share everything (free pilates workouts, health coaching videos, vlogs) on my YouTube!
Profession: Pilates & Health Coach
Words to live by: No matter the weather, always bring your own sunshine!
On health & wellness
What is something you changed in your life, that changed your life for the better? I started using the word MOVEMENT instead of exercise. It helped me detach from the "shoulds" around exercise (amount of time, type, etc.) and helped me tap into what truly felt GOOD for my body. Starting to focus on how I felt with movement vs. how I looked was huge as well.
What advice, inspiration, or motivation can you share to encourage someone to take care of their body, mind, or soul? Your body is the one home you get in this life - take care of it! You're WORTH it.
What is your favorite health and/or wellness tip? It's hard to choose just one, but I swear by my daily probiotic, SEED (ALYSIA25 will get you 25% off.) I also am a huge fan of Gua Sha in the morning, ice roller and reading the Daily Stoic!
What’s your favorite thing to do with your friends? Coffee chats/walks and going to a pilates class!
On business
Tell us about your business / role: I share body loving pilates, health coaching and lifestyle tips on my YouTube and all social platforms for women to be the best versions of themselves from a place of self love.
Were you always interested in this line of work or did you fall into it? I was always interested in health & wellness, but I decided to become a health coach years ago when I was kind of doing it organically for my friends and family already. I had previously worked in corporate events, then went into wellness events and eventually took my health coaching full time. From there I expanded into pilates because I wanted women to feel empowered in their bodies and be able to infuse mindset into movement!
What is your favorite part of your work? Being able to see women feel empowered in their mind and body after finding movement they love and enjoy!
What advice would you give someone who is looking to get into the same industry? There may be an infinite amount of wellness and fitness professionals out there, but someone needs to hear the message from YOU. You have a unique story and gift and someone is waiting to find YOU to better their life.
On motherhood
What advice would you give a new mom who is going through it for the first time? Everything passes - the good and the hard. You're doing an amazing job and even though you're doing this for the first time, nobody knows what your baby needs better than you - you're the only momma they've ever had or need!
Was motherhood something that came naturally to you or did it take some time to find your rhythm? I think it came naturally but it took time to find my pink again and learn to be confident in myself and follow my intuition over all of the outside noise - because there is a LOT.
Is there anything you'd want to say to women who are currently pregnant for the first time? You're about to experience the biggest love of your life, enjoy it I am so excited for you!
What is something you would tell a mom to start doing now to have as a keepsake later? Photos! Get family photos you'll cherish them forever.
