Claudia Dawson

Name: Claudia Dawson

Location: San Jose, California

Profession: In my day job, I work for a futurist. Off the clock, I facilitate psychedelic integration.

Self-Description: Shamanic dreamer and consciousness explorer

Words to live by: True power comes from just "being" not exerting.

What would you say to your younger self? Something that was said to me in a dream: "For all the supernatural lust in your eyes—believe."

On health & wellness

What is something you changed in your life, to change your life for the better? Making dreamwork a discipline has paved my personal path of psychic development. By writing down my dreams every morning and setting aside time each week to read, reflect, and reenter past dreams, I have become more connected to my soul and the web of space and time.

What advice, inspiration, or motivation can you share to encourage someone to take care of their body, mind, or soul? Don't ignore your subconscious mind—the thoughts and visuals that feel like intrusions, the song lyrics that pop into your head, the memory that resurfaces out of nowhere. Follow the thread that leads you back to your inner worlds.

What is your favorite health or wellness product? My HigherDOSE Infrared Sauna Blanket is like a portable sweat lodge, and if I'm consistent about using it while I'm menstruating, it alleviates all my cramps and pain.

On business

Tell us about your business or role. This is a really hard question for me to answer. I have a very niche role working for someone I deeply respect. I also write and edit newsletters, and design and layout print projects. The other part of my life is spent in intimate integration and sharing circles on Zoom.

Were you always interested in it or did you fall into it? My early professional background was in publishing, journalism, and advertising. However, my true passion has always been poetry. I believe that mastering language, communication, and connection has been the underlying motivation behind every choice I make. At this point in my life, all I really want to do is give expression to the numinous things—dreams and visions.

What is your favorite part of your work? I enjoy the flexibility of working from home and the ability to connect with people all across the planet.

What advice would you give someone who is looking to get into the same industry? I'm going to poorly paraphrase my own boss Kevin Kelly and say: the job you do 10 years from now likely does not exist today and "learning how to learn" is the superskill of the present and future.

The full list of favorable mentions are linked below with a brief description.

Favorite gift to give: Quality time with an open and curious heart.

What is a recent purchase you made that you love? Even though we have multiple speakers throughout the house, I bought a personal and portable JBL Go 4 that goes everywhere with me—in my purse, in the shower, down to the basement, or outside.

What do you never leave the house without? I'm going to completely out myself now. I always ask my crystals which one of them wants to travel with me. The loudest one wins.

Book Recommendation: Dancing in the Flames: The Dark Goddess in the Transformation of Consciousness by Marion Woodman. I read this book after my first shamanic initiation into the Goddess, and I've never been the same.

Podcast Recommendation: I don't listen to podcasts!

Artist Recommendation: Tony Anderson's music is transportive—emotionally, mentally, and psychically. I listen to it in the sauna bag, during meditations, and while walking my dog. It often induces an altered journey state, and deepens my inner landscape.

Makeup product: I own Fresh Sugar Lip Balm Hydrating Treatment in a few different colors. It makes my lips soft and the tint looks natural on me.

Skincare Product: Any product by Osea Malibu makes me feel like a Sea Goddess.

Small Business to support: Sacred Source: This is where I buy all my altar items. Whenever I meet a new goddess in a dream, I find her statue here.

Favorite store in another state or country: Beers Books in Sacramento, California. Every year around my birthday, I try to drive up there and let the book fairies pick out a present for me.
