Profession: Brand Marketing
Self-Description: Brand marketing and wellness enthusiast with 300 tabs open at all times (on my computer and in my brain). Elsie's mom. Forever seeking ways to optimize well-being and find joy and beauty in life's everyday moments.
Words to live by: Change is scary, but so is staying the same.
What would you say to your younger self? Care less about what you think everyone else thinks!
On health & wellness
What is something you changed in your life, to change your life for the better? Hands down the introduction to my naturopathic doctor, Dr. Nigma Talib. Together we've done food sensitivity testing, comprehensive blood work, and really looked at what's going on INSIDE. She is also a skincare wizard (with an insane client list - Kate Bosworth, Penelope Cruz, Sienna Miller, etc etc). Her face treatments are unlike anything I've experienced - the results are next level. But, what I love most about her approach is that she addresses skincare and holistic health from the inside out.
What advice, inspiration, or motivation can you share to encourage someone to take care of their body, mind, or soul? You will never regret investing in your health - whether physical or mental! *or* You are the CEO of your own health. How will you take care of yourself?
What is your favorite health or wellness product? Right now, I'd say my Oura ring. It took me a while to pull the trigger on it but I love that it gives me daily insight on my sleep, stress levels and readiness. A second favorite is my Levels app that helps me track my blood sugar in real time, giving me reminders like (a little movement can help blunt a spike!) and keeping inventory of the foods with the greatest impact. Word on the street is that Oura and Dexcom (maker of continuous glucose monitors) are teaming up to integrate blood glucose tracking on your oura ring. Excited for that!
On business
Tell us about your business. I work in brand marketing - specifically influencer, tastemaker and creator partnerships and brand events. I've been with the footwear brand Rothy's since our very early days - this Thanksgiving will be ten years!
Were you always interested in it or did you fall into it? I started out in social media, actually! I launched a consulting business straight out of college with my dad's advice that "working for others is a long and dusty road." That - and the fact that social media was something college graduates better understood than seasoned marketers! I ran that consulting business for two years and then joined the team at Vayner Media, before meeting Rothy's in 2015.
What is your favorite part of your work? I love building influential relationships for brands. And I love the strategy behind who to connect them with! I've been lucky to be in an external facing role where my objective is to invite influential people into the brand fold and encourage them to fall in love with us. Building relationships and friendships along the way - both with the internal team and the amazing ambassador, influencer, and tastemaker partners is what makes my heart feel full.
What advice would you give someone who is looking to get into the same industry? Digital marketing changes so rapidly and is something you can immerse yourself in on your own. I would sign up for industry newsletters, follow social accounts that you'll learn from, and start by being curious. I love Casey Lewis's After School Substack about Youth Culture, as well as Emily Sundberg's Feed Me and Rachel Karten's Link In Bio for those curious about all things social media marketing. Also, don't be afraid to reach out to those that you admire in the industry and ask if you can take them to coffee. I think even busy, experienced marketers will make time if you approach it the right way.
On motherhood
What advice would you give a new mom who is going through it for the first time? Don't be so hard on yourself! I started trying to "diet" pretty soon after and it was a waste of time and energy. Also, take endless videos! And... it gets easier.
Was motherhood something that came naturally to you or did it take some time to find your rhythm? It wasn't without it's moments but it feels pretty natural for me! We are so lucky to have an easy, good natured baby, so I think that helps. The career stuff is hard, though. It all becomes a delicate balancing act. Women are amazing.
Is there anything you'd want to say to women who are currently pregnant for the first time? I'm so excited for you. So much fun lies ahead. I didn't love being pregnant. In fact - that was the worst part to me of the whole process.
What is something you would tell a mom to start doing now to have as a keepsake later? Keep up with the baby book (from a mom who wrote in the first three pages and then never again). Also, I made Elsie a gmail account and am planning to send her an email every birthday. When she's old enough, she can log into it and read them.

Favorite gift to give: I love something personalized and my recent go-to has been these customized LL Bean totes by Joyce Joyce. What is a recent purchase you made that you love? I recently switched out my household cleaning supplies to Koala Eco - the ingredients are so clean and the scent is amazing!! Plus, it's free of all the harmful VOCs that most conventional cleaning products have. Highly recommend. What do you never leave the house without? My phone (ugh). Book recommendation: Right around the new year, I always re-read Atomic Habits by James Clear. He writes so thoughtfully about habit change and breaks it all down into simple, actionable steps that can help us get 1% better every day. Podcast Recommendation: I devoured Lifespan with Dr. David Sinclair. But there are so many good ones! I don't hate Lauren Bosstick's either - The Skinny Confidential. Dr. Nigma is launching her own soon and I am so excited for that. Artist Recommendation: I've been loving Gracie Abrams lately! She has such a cute vibe and it's something my husband likes too. Makeup product: The Westman Atelier line is so premium and delicious. It's entirely clean and the packaging is a delight. Skincare product: I love Dr. Nigma's whole line but her Serum No. 1 and Cleanser No 1 are two things I cannot live without. Newborn/toddler product: Ok for a newborn -- a velcro swaddle. Trying to replicate the swaddling they show you at the hospital is impossible! Baby/child clothing brand: Kissy Kissy for the early stages, Oso & Me once they're a little bit older. Small business we should support: Not sure this is my favorite of all time but we are in Montecito right now and there is an adorable little bakery at the Montecito Country Mart called Oat Bakery. They believe that good bread is healthy bread. Cutest branding too! Favorite store in another state/country: In Paris, there is a wonderful little paper store my friend Missy introduced me to called Melodies Graphique. Letter writing is such a lost art and something I hope to dedicate a little more time to this year. Recipe: This is one that a friend made for me right after I had my daughter Elsie. It's an Olive Oil "Snacking Cake" that is made with such high quality, healthy ingredients, it's a treat that sustains you. I was RAVENOUS while breast feeding so this was a delightful treat to have in the fridge! Original recipe is by Toby's Plate!
