Lauren Breiding

Connection: Lauren is a neighbor and friend of mine who I connected with at a kid’s park party a few years ago. She is one of the biggest hustlers I know, working hard for what she believes in. She’s a mom with an eye for game-changing brands and a passion for safer products. Last month, she took the leap and launched her own kids' clothing line—blending style, purpose, and intention. She’s all about connecting people to brands that matter, and her journey is one you’ll want to follow.

Name: Lauren Breiding

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Profession: Co-Founder of Sweet Cream

Self-Description: A fun mom who loves helping others switch to safer products! I am obsessed with brands, founders' stories and connecting my audience to brands that are doing good things. I believe that we shouldn't take ourselves too seriously and should always make room to enjoy life!

Words to live by: You can't steer a parked car.

What would you say to your younger self? Go try everything! The quickest way to learn what lights you up is to try...and I mean real life experience. Go shadow someone, take someone out to coffee that you admire or are in a line of work you are interested in. All of life's experiences create stepping stones to what you will do one day.

On health & wellness

What is something you changed in your life, to change your life for the better? Finding a workout program that works for me! For a little over a year I have been doing FASTerway to Fat Loss workouts and they make me a better person all around. I love that they are 30 mins and that I just click on the app and it tells me what to do. The workouts are different each day and the real key is that I don't have to make any decisions. It makes it easy to prioritize in my day.

What advice, inspiration, or motivation can you share to encourage someone to take care of their body, mind, or soul? As a mom of two that has worked for myself going on six years, it is important to remember that the different seasons come at you fast and hard. Right when you nail down the perfect routine for yourself, your baby switches to one nap, or your five-year-old starts a new sport after school. It has helped my mental load to look at little snippets of time to figure out how to be efficient. This takes the pressure off of having the perfect routine and allows me to go with the flow and include family priorities. It doesn't hurt to be a little scrappy every now and then too. It is important to fill your own cup so that you can pour out to your family.

What is your favorite health or wellness product? My Goodfor Co. Reverse Osmosis under the sink water filter! This has been the best investment. Not only is it impacting the health of everyone in my family, but it filters every ounce of water we consume or cook with. The filter life is super impressive so it pays for itself really quickly. On business

Tell us about your business. On February 20th, I launched a kids clothing line, Sweet Cream, with two other business partners. This is a real boot strap adventure so currently I do everything from social content planning, to packing orders, to planning out our next drops. It feels good to have my hands in everything at this stage. I am also Sales Operations Manager at Sunnie and educate on switching to safer products and more on social media (mainly Instagram at the moment). Overall, I am obsessed with connecting consumers with brands that are doing good things so they can keep enjoying life! Now I get to do that with my own brand which features baby and kids clothing using safely dyed GOTS Certified Organic Cotton made right here in Downtown LA.

Were you always interested in it or did you fall into it? Deep down I always knew that I would have my own business. I have played around with different iterations of it over the years, but having a physical product that people can buy feels so good! For years I played around with the idea of a consultant type offer to create customized lists of safer products for people's homes based on budget, type of home etc. It never sat well with me. I think because at my core I think that we shouldn't have to worry about product being harming our health in the first place. So the idea of charging someone for this information just felt off. So, instead I partner with brands I use and trust and answer questions for free! It really lights me up! As for starting Sweet Cream, my business partner and friend, Brittney came to me with the baby clothing idea and I was like "Absolutely!" I have a background in helping start a Fraternity in Sorority clothing line that is a great small business on Amazon (Fashion Greek). This six year experience and my passion for clean living gave me the stepping stones and tools I needed to say yes to bringing Sweet Cream to life!

What is your favorite part of your work? Currently it feels so good to learn. The first orders are hitting doorsteps now and I am so excited for feedback so we can learn and continue to grow over time. One thing that is very important to me is human to human connection, so connecting with our first clients feels so good! I thrive in that environment. I also have a new confidence in myself. The days leading up to launch were some of the most difficult ones, but WE DID IT! And then at my core, I get a real dopamine blast from organizing our first 10x12 warehouse, packing orders and doing all the little businessy things. There are some days where the large vision tasks feel hard so I start with easy to check off items to keep me motivated to do more.

What advice would you give someone who is looking to get into the same industry? The older I get the more I realize that no one really knows what they are doing and your idea is worthy of a shot too! I'm a big believer for putting yourself out there and that no one else is thinking about you as much as you are thinking about yourself. Try different things, be authentic, show your face on social media, be kind to others, tell your story and ASK FOR HELP! I keep thinking that there should be this playbook for starting a business, but there really isn't.

On motherhood

What advice would you give a new mom who is going through it for the first time? Remember that you and your baby are BOTH learning. It is a whole new world for both of you. I used to say out loud how many days old my son was so that it would sink in how new it all was. "He is only 48 days old. We can figure this out." There is so much pressure to have it all figured out and not enough that shows how messy and wonderful motherhood is. You don’t need a label for everything you are doing (i.e. Baby led weaning, sleep training, etc etc.) Just trust your gut and live your life with your baby.

Was motherhood something that came naturally to you or did it take some time to find your rhythm? It did come natural to me. I will say that I was blessed with an excellent example from my own mom. We have a great relationship and she was, and is, a wonderful mom!

What is one product you'd recommend for a mom of a newborn, toddler, or teenager? Coterie Diapers and wipes. The subscription is is easy, the diapers are so soft and they WORK! Prioritizing these in our budget has made my life a lot easier.

Is there anything you'd want to say to women who are currently pregnant for the first time? Don't be afraid to ask for what you want in birth. I had a completely natural hospital induction birth and while I wouldn't put pressure on a BIRTH PLAN, I would go into each doctors appointment with questions of your options as you get closer to birth. It is just as much of an incredible experience for you as it is your baby. Stand up for what you want.

What is something you would tell a mom to start doing now to have as a keepsake later? This is a great question! When we had my son we started a one photo a day shared album on our phones. I wish we would have kept it up...maybe i'll start adding to it again today! And start one for my daughter Murphy while we are at it.

The full list of favorable mentions are linked below with a brief description.

Small business shoutout: Spicewell! I met Raina at an event here in LA and have never used another Salt or Pepper again. Her products include minerals, veggies and more to nourish while adding incredible flavor to your food.

Favorite gift to give: Any spoil yourself product. Those are the products that go by the wayside and we always deserve a little something for ourselves. Goop Scalp Scrub, Osea Body Oil, Osea Salt Scrub.

What is a recent purchase you made that you love? Fritaire Air Fryer! My husband and I use this three times a day and it helps us prioritize home cooked meals for the kids. It's also a great way to reheat leftovers. The real reason why I am so obsessed is because it is all glass and stainless steel making it an excellent non toxic option. No coating that could contain PFAS. Also, the White one is so beautiful! I smile every time I look at it and it is SO EASY to clean. (Laurenbreiding saves you 15%)

What do you never leave the house without? Sunscreen! I am a big believer in covering that left cheek while you are driving. (Advocate10 for 10% off)

Book Recommendation: Honestly, I am not a book reader. I could make up an answer and say Atomic Habits but I didn't even finish that. I should probably adopt audible for in the car, but I usually find myself wanting to catch up with family and friends. Or I am playing Wheels on the bus. IYKYK.

Podcast Recommendation: I am just now getting back into podcasts. I used to listen to a few religiously then got overwhelmed. The Second Life has been a tried and true one for me. My business partner Danielle just shared this episode with me and it is incredible if you are starting something of your own.

Artist Recommendation: I am a die harddd Swiftie! So that is always playing. But, I recently have been putting on "Gracie Abrams Radio" on Spotify and serves up a good mix of happy and in the feels music.

Skincare Product: I am obsessed with this Crunchi Powerlight Eye Cream! It has done wonders for brightness and reducing all those wonderful smile lines. And it's EWG Verified. (use code Advocate10 for 10% off first order)

Makeup product: Crunchi Sunlight Tinted SPF 30. It has the perfect melt in your skin coverage that actually covers! (Advocate 10 for 10% off)

Favorite kids clothing brand? SWEET CREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We currently have 9-12m through 6T.

Favorite store in another state/country: I have only been to Europe once and my husband and I decided that instead of buying different small things in each city we visited we would look for one bigger item we would cherish for a long time. For me I knew that was finding something special in a vintage shop! Since then I have adopted that as my new "thing" when I travel. Find a local vintage shop and find a treasure.

Recipe: My family EATS THIS UP! It also makes so many leftovers if you double it.

Travel Recommendation: We stayed in Lake Arrowhead last Easter and this house was PERFECT for a family stay.
